PROJECT OVERVIEW

Constructed as part of the Rochester Area Reliability Project (RARP), Station 255 stands as a critical piece of infrastructure supporting the long-term stability of the region’s electrical grid. Located along the banks of the Genesee River in Henrietta, New York, this 12-acre, 345kV substation was developed to strengthen transmission capacity and improve the reliability of power delivery throughout the greater Rochester area. As one of the largest electrical distribution stations in New York State, Station 255 plays a central role in connecting new and existing transmission lines and reinforcing the overall bulk power system.

Ironwood Power Services’ Substation and Civil Services divisions supported the successful delivery of this large-scale project through comprehensive site development and construction efforts. Working in a complex environment adjacent to the Genesee River, our team contributed to the creation of a greenfield substation designed to meet growing regional energy demands and enhance grid resiliency. Through precise coordination and execution, Station 255 now serves as a key asset in reducing outages, increasing system capacity, and ensuring reliable electricity for communities and businesses across Western New York.
