PROJECT OVERVIEW
Completed in early 2024, the Avon & Caledonia Solar projects in Western New York further demonstrate Ironwood Power Services’ ability to deliver complex site development solutions in support of renewable energy initiatives. Working as a subcontractor, our Substation and Civil Services division provided a wide range of civil and site construction services essential to advancing these utility-scale solar installations.
In addition to tree clearing and grubbing, our team performed the demolition of an existing structure and managed the installation, removal, and restoration of an equipment staging area. The project scope also included detailed site work such as cuts and fills, grading, storm drainage, and rock removal, along with electrical trenching and installation of concrete equipment pad foundations. Crews constructed impervious access roads, installed a bio-retention pond to support stormwater management, and implemented site stabilization and erosion control measures, including silt fencing. Through coordinated execution and a focus on quality, the Caledonia & Avon Solar projects were successfully completed, contributing to the expansion of clean energy infrastructure in the region.
